A mum-of-one who lives life on a day-to-day basis because of a brain tumour, has had one of the wishes on her ‘bucket list’ granted.

Emma Young told the News Extra last month how she would love to have a second honeymoon with her husband Luke at Ashdown Park Hotel and Country Club near East Grinstead.

Although the 35-year-old, of Charlotte Street, Sittingbourne, was diagnosed with a meningioma in June 19 last year, she believes it may have been the cause of her feeling unwell during their stay following their wedding on August 20, 2010.

She had been suffering severe headaches for six months and seen her GP several times before an MRI scan revealed the growth the size of a tennis ball.

The former Abbey School pupil underwent 14 hours of surgery at King’s College Hospital in London in August 2012 but the team was unable to remove it and a titanium plate was fitted to replace part of her skull which had been removed.

Five weeks later the surgeons tried again. This time they managed to remove 80% of the tumour but she suffered nerve damage which resulted in her left eyelid shutting completely although she is slowly regaining movement in it.

Despite it being benign the tumour is wrapped around a main artery and could cause a stroke or death at any time if it constricts.

After reading the article, Ashdown Park’s general manager Ben Booker contacted the paper offering the couple a complimentary stay at the hotel.

He said: “We were moved by Emma’s story and wanted to do what we could to help make her wish come true.

“We are pleased to be able to offer a special stay for her and her husband and to be part of helping to make her bucket list complete.”

Emma said: “It’s amazing, fantastic, I’m over the moon. Thank you.”

The rest of Emma’s bucket list includes: Having a cup of tea and a chat with her favourite actor Ray Winstone at a greasy spoon; ringside seats for a boxing match; a trip to New York; drive a brand new Jaguar car for a weekend; and a trip to Scotland with her brother Neal Leslie to visit Leslie Castle.
