Two goals in the last eight minutes prevented Chatham from pulling off a surprise win over Ryman League, Division 1 South leaders Croydon Athletic on Saturday.
Beaten in six of their previous seven matches, Chatham took a first-half lead when Jack Pallen, pictured, scored following a 27th-minute long throw.
Alex O'Brien's side continued to frustrate the title chasers until eight minutes from time when Ben Godfrey equalised.
And the same player then struck Athletic's winner six minutes later to leave Chatham beaten again in cruel fashion.
