Grieving daughter speaks of her mum, from Sutton Valence, who collapsed on the A20

A grieving daughter has paid tribute to her mother, Jennifer Baker, who passed away suddenly, aged only 52.

Carly Baker was driving her mum to the shops. As they travelled along the A20 London Road through Bearsted , Mrs Baker suddenly began gasping for breath.

Carly stopped the car, phoned for an ambulance and flagged down a passing motorist for help.

Ambulance crews were soon on the scene and spent a long time performing CPR on Mrs Baker by the roadside.

Police closed the road in both directions while she was being treated.

Eventually Mrs Baker was taken to Maidstone Hospital, but sadly she died just a few hours later.

Carly Baker said: "She was the strongest woman I know. She always put everyone before herself and would help anyone out."

She said: "She was a lovely mother as well as a lovely grandmother."

Jennifer Baker was born in Maidstone and most recently lived in Sutton Valence. She married her husband Alan in 1994 and they had three children together.

She most recently worked at the West End Tavern in Marden, but had to give it up when she became poorly.

Her hobbies had been football having played for Maidstone Ladies FC.

Unfortunately she had suffered a sequence of medical problems, that mostly affected her chest and breathing. She had been in Maidstone Hospital for treatment only the weekend before.

Carly Baker said: "She was always there when needed. Always put everyone’s needs before herself.

"She was a very out-going lady. Always up for a laugh and a good old party.

"She will be very sadly missed by everyone she loved."
