Adam Miller is hoping his goal on Tuesday will give his chances of gaining international recognition a further boost.

The Gillingham stand-in captain is hoping to get a call-up for the Northern Ireland team having previously played for the country at under-18 level.

Miller scored Gillingham’s second goal in the 3-1 win at Port Vale and is enjoying a rich vein of form in the centre of midfield.

Although English born, Miller qualifies for the Northern Ireland team through his grandfather and revealed his desire to win a full senior cap.

Miller said: “To be a full international would be unbelievable. Some people might say it’s Northern Ireland but it’s my family and it would be massive.

“My mum would be so proud because it’s her side of the family and my grandad would be looking down on me. It’s something I would love to do.

“It’s an overwhelming thought. When you think about being an international it’s a bit mad.”

Miller described his goal against Port Vale as one of his best and he now wants to team to fulfil their true potential.

He said: "The boys have got so much hunger and when we all go at it, there’s not many teams in this league who I have seen that are better than us.

“I’ve got total confidence in myself and all the boys and that promotion is there for taking.”
