Gills players to get shorter summer break

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has issued his squad with his demands for the coming pre-season which will include a much reduced summer break.

The Gillingham players enjoyed around two months off last year but Stimson will be halving that time off to around four weeks.

“They have now received their letters and we are now waiting on their responses,” he said. “We have done this because we are trying to make the players more professional.

“You should only have a certain amount of time off and then get back to light activity or start practicing areas of your game that you are weaker on. That is what we will be doing through that first month.”
