Gills end season with a flourish

Watford 2 Gillingham 3

BATTLING Gillingham twice came from behind to equalise before striker Iffy Onuora grabbed a late winner in this hectic final game of the season.

Luca Viall's men went in front early on when a 25-yarder from teenager Anthony McNamee was deflected into the net. But shortly before the break a Chris Hope header, which had more accuracy than power, put the Kent club on level terms.

Watford again went ahead 10 minutes after the interval through Allan Nielsen, but Paul Shaw levelled. It seemed as if the points would be shared before Onuora popped up to score the killer goal in the 84th minute and send Gillingham's travelling fans home in a happy frame of mind.
