Woman hurt in three-vehicle smash

AN ELDERLY woman had to be cut free from a car after a three-vehicle crash at Lenham, near Maidstone.

The accident, involving two cars and a lorry, happened at about 7.30pm last night. The drivers of all three vehicles were able to walk away following the collision.

But the elderly woman, a passenger in one of the cars, received serious injuries. Firefighters removed the car's roof and cut her out of her seat.

Three fire appliances, from Maidstone, Lenham and Charing, were called to the scene. It took about 30 minutes to release the woman who was taken to hospital.
