Man dies after falling onto A282 carriageway near QEII Bridge in Dartford

A man has died after falling onto the carriageway near the QEII Bridge.

Police confirmed today that a man in his 30s was declared deceased after officers were called to the A282, on the Kent side of the Dartford Crossing yesterday afternoon.

A spokesman for the force said: “Officers were called at 1.36pm on Saturday, January 6, to a report that a person had fallen onto the carriageway of the A282, near Dartford.

“The road was closed while emergency services attended the incident and a man in his 30s was confirmed deceased at the scene.

“His death is being treated as non-suspicious and his next of kin has been informed and a report has been prepared for the coroner.”

The A282 was reopened at around 10.30pm yesterday after drivers were caught up in severe delays for several hours.

The M25 was shut southbound between Junction 30 and Junction 2.

Traffic approaching the bridge faced delays of up to three hours and National Highways said at one point it did not know when the road would be able to reopen.

At the time National Highways explained: “Delays have increased to three hours on approach. Due to the nature of the incident, extensive clear-up works are required.”
