Big entry expected for sevens

THE Kent Spitfire Sevens will have its biggest entry in recent years when 20 teams take part at Merton Lane on Sunday, May 4.

After beginning as the Canterbury Sevens in 1964, the tournament is now the biggest in Kent, attracting teams from far and wide to take part in the revived County Sevens, with thousands of pounds of prizes on offer.

Club sides Sidcup, Maidstone, Dover, Canterbury, Canterbury Development, Olafs Axes, Warlingham, Aylesford, Aylesford 2, Deal, Bromley, University of Kent Canterbury, Tunbridge Wells and Whitstable will take part alongside guest sides Apaches, Cowboys, Oxford Brookes Real Estate, UKC Cougars, Kamikazes, Stairway To Sevens.
