Driver arrested after fleeing police and abandoning car in Dartford

An arrest has been made following a police chase involving officers from two forces and a helicopter.

The incident began when the driver of a Land Rover failed to stop for officers on patrol at the Black Prince Interchange in Bexley at around 2pm yesterday.

A police chase came to an end when a vehicle was abandoned in Dartford - an arrest was subsequently made.

They gave chase and the vehicle was eventually discovered by Kent Police's roads policing unit abandoned in Milestone Road, Dartford.

Today the Metropolitan Police, who initiated the chase, has confirmed a 32-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.

He remains in custody while inquiries into the circumstances of the pursuit continue.
